Microgrid Resiliency Assessment for the City of Laguna Beach, CA

As of 2023, Optony provided the City of Laguna Beach, CA with a Microgrid Resiliency Assessment to be included as part of their Climate Action and Adaptation Plan under development with PlaceWorks. The Microgrid Resiliency Assessment analyzed the City’s critical facilities, municipal or non-municipal owned, to determine locations with high potential to benefit from solar and battery energy storage systems to increase resiliency and self-sufficiency in the event of an emergency. Using Optony’s proprietary tool MDOCS, the City has received a comprehensive microgrid study and guidance to better inform communitywide implementation of microgrids and a site-specific design plan for high priority locations.

On February 25, 2025, the City of Laguna Beach unanimously adopted their updated Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP). Optony is thrilled to contribute our research and assessment of microgrids as a key part the resiliency segment of this plan.
